RCS unites with Screen, Scodix and Highcon to showcase innovative digital packaging at North Print & Pack 2013

For the first time RCS, Screen, Conversion, Scodix and Highcon will unite to showcase the very latest in digital print and finishing technology for personalised print and packaging applications at North Print & Pack (stand C256, Harrogate, 14-16th May 2013).

“North Print & Pack visitors will be able to see, feel and discuss the business potential of a range of creative personalised print and packaging applications using the very latest digital print and finishing technologies – and all on one booth, “ says Bui Burke, VP Sales, Screen Europe.

Mark Nixon, MD, Conversion UK adds: “By joining together at North Print & Pack we can show the impressive capabilities of a streamlined digital production workflow that enables the cost-effective production of high-impact, highly-personalised short run print and cartons.”

RCS, a leading supplier of high-margin, short-run personalised print and packaging, will show the range of innovative added-value gift products it is producing using the Screen Truepress JetSX B2 digital press and the Scodix B2 digital embossing press range in its Retford factory. RCS is joined by Screen and Conversion, UK distributor for Scodix and the Highcon Euclid digital cutting and creasing machine, to present the tremendous versatility of personalised labels, cartons and creative print applications that can be produced using their advanced digital print and finishing technology.

The Screen Truepress JetSX is the world’s first full-colour, duplex B2-size sheet-fed inkjet press and outputs at 1440 x 1440 dpi to produce text and images that rival offset for quality. The maximum sheet-size of 740 x 530 mm makes it versatile enough to print everything from standard A4, through calendars, folders and book covers, to A2/B2 posters, cards and cartons. The press has a straight-feed, precision vacuum flat-bed paper transport mechanism that enables it to handle media from 0.08 mm up to 0.6 mm, including pre-scored and pre-creased boards, without bending.

Screen will also show a selection of labels produced by the Truepress Jet L350UV inkjet label printer which made its debut at drupa last year. The printer accommodates a printing width up to 322mm and leads the industry as an inkjet label printing system with a top speed of 50m per minute and a productivity of 6.1sqm per minute. Lamination, die cutting and other post press processing devices can be connected inline to automate label production from beginning to end.

The Scodix S series of digital presses enable companies to add a wide range of enhancements to printed items, supporting job runs of any size, on a wide option of materials, both digital and offset.

Scodix SENSE™ adds clear polymer to images in variable levels of thickness and texture of up to 250 microns, and with pinpoint accuracy, allowing for easy single or dual-sided printing. Scodix Rainbow™ prints glitter on selected areas and the, just launched, Scodix Metallic™ enables the easy creation of metallic colours in a selective digital process.

The Highcon Euclid is the world’s first production speed digital cutting and creasing machine and transforms cutting and creasing from an analogue to a digital workflow to dramatically streamline the finishing process. The Euclid does not require a conventional die, which removes the many hours or days associated with conventional die production combined with the additional machine set-up time. This radically changes the economics, enabling convertors to respond to their customers’ needs, meet tighter deadlines and deliver short and medium run length jobs profitably.

Mary Buck, Sales Manager for North Print & Pack 2013, concludes: “The commitment from these manufacturers is testament to the importance of North Print & Pack to the UK print and packaging industry. With so many manufacturers offering a range of solutions for both commercial and packaging printers, the broader event focus provides an ideal platform to showcase their products to the widest range of visitors than ever before.
